I have been unable to find the record of baptism for my ancestor,
Heinrich Darenkamp in 1759. His son, his daughter, my
great-grandmother and others were all earily found on the St.
Andreas (Cloppenburg) film at the FHC.
My family does not seem to be related to the big Darrenkamp family in
Tendtedt. At least, I do not have enough information yet to connect to
them.
I feel certain that Heinrich was born about 1759 as his burial record
in St. Andreas lists him as being 80 years old when he died in 1839.
It is important to me to find this because there is some confusion
about his name.
On a correspondence from Bischflich Mnstersches Offizialatat in
1998, the Archivist referred him (on a record of his son, Heinrich
Joseph
Derrenkamp) as "Johannes Heinricus Darrenkamp, Anbauer, et Anna Maria
Scheve auf Lankum."
On most records, tho, he is listed simply as Heinrich Derrenkamp,
Ambhren or
Johannes Henricus. He is always listed as married to Anna Maria
(Adelheide) Scheve.
But on a Caspar Derrenkamp's marriage in 1834, the sponsi are Henrich
WESSEL Derrenkamp, Ambhren and Anna Maria Scheve. Different father's
name, same wife. Other records of this same time period show Heinrich
married to Anna Maria Scheve. I admit that I have not found the
baptism of Caspar. I don't know how he fits into the picture. Were
Sponsi always parents? Could Sponsi be a father and an Aunt, if a
mother was dead?
Would it be worthwhile for me to write to the Archives to find the
baptism of my ancestor, Heinrich Darenkamp, born abt. 1759? How can I
address the confusion abut the name?
What can the Archives do for me if I don't know the town of birth? Or
are the likely towns (Tenstedt, Lankum, Cloppenburg, Cappeln,
Crapendorf) possibly all kept together? That would be asking a lot,
now, wouldn't it? (-:
Is the correct address still:
Bischflich Mnstersches Offizialat
Postfach 1462, D-49363

Germany
How many EUROs might be included and are IRCs still OK to send?
Thanks, Buffy
