( OL ) Wilking Family

Dear Dean.

I am a grandson of Johann Wilking. He was married to Henny, nee Kuhlmann and had two daughters, Ingeborg (my mother) and Herta. Johann grew up in Bloherfelde and later became a well-connected businessman, Kolonialwaren Johann Wilking (food wholesale) in Donnerschweer Str. Johann had a business partner, known as uncle Simon. As a staunch opponent of the Nazis, Johann sent Simon (Jewish) to the States before it was to late and kept his share safe for his return after the Nazi-spook. There were connections to Brazil and to the US as far as I remember. There was Ella Wilking and her son Dieter, who emigrated to the States. My mother was close to Inge Lehmkuhl, related to the Wilkings, and was the godmother of her son Rolf. The Lehmkuhls ran a Construction Company (Baugeschaeft) in Bloherfelde. I hope, this information can help you.

kind Regards.

Dear Frank,

Thank you for your information, it's interesting that my Great-Great
Grandfather Johann Wilking lived in Bloherfeld, he was married to Helene
Schmidt and I know they had two daughters (did they have more children, I
don't know), one is Anne Marie my Great Grandmother who emigrated to Brazil
and her sister I believe passed away in Germany in the 70's.
What are the odds of 2 Johann Wilking's from Bloherfeld, I know that Johann
is popular name but "Wilking" seems very unpopular or am I wrong. Do you
have any other information on your family members?
