Hello Fritz,
Thank you so much for your offer. I appreciate it so much. I know very little
about my gr. gr. grandmother. I found her name on the State of New Jersey
Marriage Return for my great grandparents.
It says:
Name of Mother: Emilie (Emilia, Amalia, Amalie) Elisa Wemje (very bad
handwriting)
Country of Birth: Germany
Name of Father: Henry Sieling (perhaps Heinrich)
Country of Birth: Germany
Emilie (Emilia, Amalia, Amalie) Wemje and Henry Sieling had a daughter (my
great grandmother) named Emilie (Emilia) Magdalena Hermine Sieling. Her name
is also written as "Hermine Amalie Magdalena Sieling" on the birth
certificates of her children. She was born in 1872 in Oldenburg. She
immigrated to the USA in 1892. She married Wilhelm Gottlob Pfander in Jersey
City, New Jersey, USA on 9 October 1896. She had three children, a set of
twins born 30 July 1899 named Max Rudolf Pfander and Luise Helene Pfander and
my grandfather, William Herman Pfander, born 22 Sept 1897. She died in 1921
in Essex, Connecticut, USA of breast cancer.
They also had a son named August Sieling. He immigrated to the USA, also,
around 1893 and was a partner in the bakery owned by my great grandfather. He
married a woman named Sophie (last name unknown) and had a child named August
Lincoln Sieling. Family lore says he took his own life by putting his head in
an oven and turning on the gas.
Please let me know of any costs incurred. Thank you again for your help.
Happy hunting!
Paula Lischen Pfander Broughton
