Hello,
'genant' with only one 'n' should be an old spelling of 'genannt', and this
means 'named' or 'called'.
Thus a notation like 'Johann Meier genant Schulz' would mean his real (or
old) name was Johann Meier but he was called Schulz. Around here this often
happened when a man married into another farm, he would then take his wife's
name.
