I am working with information in Clemens Bröring's book, Essener Bauernhöf.
Could someone please help me with the following statements found in it?

Erst um 1660 ist die Stelle mit einer neuen Familie (Wehrfester) besetzt.
Does Wehrfester, in this case, mean "new family" or does it refer to the man
who organized the defense for the bauershaft?

The origin goes way back to someone who would defend a new
colonized farm but by the 17th century it had come to mean a
farmer who took on a depopulated or empty spread and made it
wholesome again. So think of it as a new settler on an old place.
who organized the defense for the bauershaft?
This was pretty much a communal effort but the villages Schützen
were instrumental in this. This was the origin of the present
Schützenvereine or shooting clubs. A Bauerschaft was a closely knit
group of houses or farms who were located in some proximity.
Neighbor protected neighbor and they took care of their own
business.

What was the Kloster Malgarten?
Long story but it was one of the original cloisters set up near Essen.
They owned some farms until modern times whose farmers were in
a liege relationship to the cloister.
