Bernd,

Once again you have come through again and once again, more family members have cropped up that are now begging to be researched in the future. I've got another one for the list (you'll possibly go 3 for 3).

Three years ago Linda Luebcke wrote to me off-list about a Schulte post I made and asked if I had any connection to Kansas (Marysville) Schultes. At that time, though we had some decent clues that we might be connected in some way, there was no real solid evidence to make a solid link. Well, on August 24, I got an "Ah, ha!" message from Linda indicating that she had recently come into some new information that almost surely made the connection between ourselves.

My last two posts were steps toward feeling more confident about our connection and to tie up some loose ends. This third request for information should seal the deal and make us distant cousins.

1. Johann Arnold/Arend Schulte, 1C5R. Born on 16 Jan 1808. Johann Arnold died on 1 Aug 1898; he was 90.

On 29 Apr 1836 when Johann Arnold was 28, he first married Mechthild Elis. Westendorf. Born on 14 Mar 1819. Mechthild Elis. died on 16 Nov 1840; she was 21.

They had one child:
  2 i. Theodor Arnold (1840-1904)

On 9 May 1848 when Johann Arnold was 40, he second married Cath. Dwerlkotte. Born on 28 Feb 1823. Cath. died on 5 Oct 1870; she was 47.

They had one child:
  3 i . Joseph (1854-)

Some of the above information is from page 197, family number 166 of the book Dinklager Familien by Clemens Heitmann.

According to the new information that Linda has recently provided:

John Arnold Schulte (born Jan 16, 1808, died Aug 1, 1898)
first wife, Eliz. Westendorf (born 1818, died 1841)
second wife, Anna Kathrina Hörstmann (born 1825, died Oct 30, 1870)

Judging from the similarities between both second wives Dwerlkotte and Hörstmann -- they are probably the same person. I guess my question is to sort out the last name. Elsewhere in my family history, I have a Schulte that adopted the Nietfeld name when his wife inherited the family farm (I'm familiar with the practice), so what does the list think is the scoop with Dwerlkotte and Hörstmann? Was she also re-marrying for the second time?

Might as well push my luck too -- know any more siblings for Theodor Arnold or Joseph? Joseph probably has a brother by the name of Frank.

Once again, thanks for everything,
Darrell
