Thanks!

By the way, I just received a mail from David Hoyting who mentioned names of
people emigrated to the US to whom I am related. GREAT!

Let's keep searching.

Hi Wilma,

Do you have an e-mail address for Father David Hoying (or Hoyting)? I have
been trying to contact him. I live in America, and most of my German
ancestors first moved to Minster, Ohio (part of the John Stallos
emigration), or New Vienna, IA (a town founded by Germans moving from
Minster, Ohio, to Iowa. I believe all of my ancestors are from Oldenburger
Munsterland and Westphalian Munsterland. The surnames are Hellmann, Tauke,
Eike, Naber, and Erdmann.

Janet Erdman

Dear Janet,

Yes, I have the e-mail address.

Father D. Hoying
E-mail Address(es):
  stfranc@bright.net

Many Germans who went to Minster (OH) came from DAMME, Oldenburg. See the
website of Werner Honkomp http://www.honkomp.de/
It contains a list of people who emigrated to the US. Maybe you find tehir
names on the list. I have not checked.

Cia,
Wilma

Hi Wilma,

Thank you for the e-mail address and the information.

It looks like there are a few Mackes in Iowa as well. If these are your
relatives, the Dubuque County GenWeb site has a lot of information about
German immigrants to Dyersville and New Vienna, Iowa.

Thanks for your help.

Do you have the origin of the Hellmanns? They are in my family from
Cloppenburg or Crapendorf.

Hi Fred,

My ancestor is Henry Hellmann, born Feb 13, 1864. He moved to America when
he was 16. I think he may have had an older brother, Ferdinand, who moved
as well. He settled first in Iowa, and later moved to Texas. I found a
record for him under the name of Henrich Hellmann at www.family.search.org .
The record shows that he was born in Lohne. His parents, Maria Bernardina
Rochte and Franz Hellmann are also listed as born in Lohne. His ancestors
are listed as born in Lohne and Oythen Vechta when I go back a few
generations through the Family Search Index. I'm not sure how accurate the
records are.
