[OL]Oetjengerdes

Hello everyone!

I hope everyone is having a nice summer. My previous postings were regarding
my Wemje and Sieling families. I have something slightly different this time.
My great grandmother, "Hermine Sieling" from Oldenburg, had a sister who
married a man with the last name Polster. He was from the Liepzig area, I believe.

On December 31, 1906, a woman named Sophie Oetjengerdes sent a letter to my
great grandmother's sister (Frau Polster). The letter is written in german and
I have not had it translated. It has a picture pinned to it of a woman in
bonnet type hat. The dress that she is wearing is high collared and white. The
ribbons from the bonnet drape down her chest. The picture is 1 X 1 1/4 inches.
The letter was sent from Yonkers, New York. I quickly did a check of the LDS and
found 8 Oetjengerdes names listed. Most of them appear to be siblings and one
is the father. They are all from Westerstede, Oldenburg. They appear to be
around the same age as my family members would have been. They were probably
friends or aquaintances of each other in Germany. If anyone is interested in this
letter and photo, I will gladly send you a copy of both. I can also scan them
both and send them via email for anyone who would like to take a look at it
or translate the letter for me. If anyone knows of a Oetjengerdes family in
Germany perhaps they could inquire as to if there was ever a Sophie in their
family that immigrated to the US. Thank you and good luck with your searches...

Hello Paula,

I would appreciate to get a copy of the letter and the picture via Email.
I'm a German (being born in Oldenburg) and know the area (County of the
Ammerland) very well and I will try to send you the translation.

Thanks,
Hans-Georg (Boyken)
