I am brand new to your list, and could not find a way
to search the archived messages, so please forgive me
if these topics have been covered.

I plan on visiting Lower Saxony next year to see where
my grandparents came from. My grandfather was born
and raised in Erlte, which is just outside Visbek. I believe
he was baptized at St. Vitus in Visbek. He was Carl August Grote, born in 1904 to Ahlert and Maria Catherine Grote. He emigrated to Cincinnati about 1925.

I would like general information about life in Erlte and Visbek
in the 19th and early 20th century, and ideally would like
to build a family tree. It seems that the Catholic register books are housed by the Archbishop's office in Muenster?
I'd appreciate any general ideas on how to collect information, even if that means hiring someone in Germany for assistance.

Ich bin zu Ihrer Liste nagelneu und könnte nicht eine Weise finden, die archivierten Anzeigen zu suchen, gefalle so verzeihe mir, wenn diese Themen umfaßt worden sind. Sehen ich plane auf dem Besuchen Niedersachsen das folgende Jahr zum, wohin meine Grosseltern von kamen. Mein Großvater war in Erlte geboren und angehoben, das gerades äußeres Visbek ist. Ich glaube, daß er an Str. Vitus in Visbek getauft wurde. Er war Carl August Grote, getragen 1904 zu Ahlert und zu Maria Catherine Grote. Er wanderte nach Cincinnati über 1925 aus. Ich möchte allgemeine Informationen über das Leben in Erlte und in Visbek im 19. und früh im 20. Jahrhundert und ideal möchte einen Stammbaum errichten. Es scheint, daß die katholischen Registerbücher durch das Büro des Archbishops in Muenster untergebracht werden? Ich würde alle allgemeinen Ideen schätzen auf, wie man Informationen sammelt, selbst wenn dieses Mittel jemand in Deutschland für Unterstützung anstellend. Vielen Dank. C. Grote, Chicago
