[OL]New book

Hello list

I recently got a book called "Zur Arbeit nach Holland".
It is beautifully illustrated and provides the results of a the research by
the universities of Osnabrck and Amsterdam on the background and motifs of
the "Hollandgngerei"; the seasonal work by people from the Osnabrck
region in Holland.
The book is published (ISBN 3-00-007774-X) by the University of Osnabrck
and accompanies an exhibition held in the fall of 2000.
It is written in two languages (German and dutch) and in my opinion a "must
read" for anyone interested in the subject.

Hi,

I have a rather specific question regarding recalling old testaments. I hope
that somebody has preceeded me or has the experience and can help me.

I have compiled my family tree till 18 century. They all lived in a village
called Cloppenburg which was part of the province Munster land and later day
Oldenburg. Presumely my ancestors drew up testaments and these would be
immensely rewarding to read. In Holland (where I am from) testamnets are
made public after 100 years. All testamants are indexed by name and
brithdate in a large national testament registration system. This index
holds the key to calling a testament for the name of the notary, date, code
and place is given. By and large the next step is to travel to the according
location where the will was drawn up and make an inquiry at the local
testament depo.

I would very much appreciate it if somebody could inform me to the procedure
in Germany. Is it similar to that in NL. What effect will my search have
that Cloppenburg switched provinces Munster / Oldenburg?

Thank you.
Regards Sebastian Hulshoff.

ik kan je zegen, dat Cloppenburg was in de "Provincie"
Oldenburg, vandaag het is in de "Oldenburger
