I have Elizabeth MENKE in my database. She was born about June 1827 (place unknown, parents unknown). She married Hermann Andreas SCHLIEKELMANN 11 Nov 1851 in Cincinnati. Coincidently, a parish history (1939) says he ran a "dairy farm in that vicinity one year". I have a 17 Oct 1852 baptismal record (Mother of God Catholic Church, Covington, Kentucky) for their first child. There are other MENKE/MÖNKE/MOENKE/MOEMKE records at Mother of God Church.
Herman SCHLIEKELMANN was born 29 Nov 1821, at Mettingen, Westphalia, Prussia [Germany]. He immigrated with his parents and siblings in 1849 to Cincinatti. About 1855, he moved his family to a farm at New Vienna, Dubuque Co., Iowa. There are many MENKE records in the New Vienna/Dyersville/Luxemburg area of western Dubuque County, Iowa.
