Does anyone know the significance of "Kl." (Kloster = monastery) when it
precedes a family name on a map, for example, "Kl. Stricker"? Does it mean
there was a monastery on the family's land? Would the family have owned the

You don't say why this has to be Kloster. Normally it would refer to
Klein. Many farms were split somewhere along the line and are
differentiated by Groß and Klein.
