[OL]Marriage information

Hello -

I somehow came across this page:
http://list.genealogy.net/archiv/oldenburg-l/1997-06/msg00013.html
while searching for my own last name and am wondering if one of you has any information that could help me? (It was difficult for me to tell which person was saying what on that page).

My last name is Schnelten and the furthest thing back that I know is that my great grandfather came over here as a boy with his parents and brothers from Bremen, by way of Baltimore, MD.

I am trying to find out if Schnelten is still a village, or does it not exist any more? Or was it ever a village, etc.? I found it on a map, and it is located just east of Lastrup, Neidersachsen.

I would like to find out who I can contact to find more information on Henry Schnelten, born in Hanover, Germany, Jan. 3, 1847, the son of John B. and Mary (Schneider) Schnelten, natives of Germany. (Apparently he had four brothers and sisters at the time that the came to America)

Thank you so much in advance for any information that you can offer!

Schnelten still is a village in the parish Lastrup. According to
www.lastrup.de, Schnelten had 325 inhabitants in 2000. You might find
more information on the web site. Unfortunately, it's only in
german. As far as I know, there are still some people with the surname
Schnelten living in this area.
