Hello...
Joseph Rochte was born in Baden-Baden Germany in 1811. I have been unsuccessful in finding out anything about who his family was.
I believe he was the only Rochte who came to United States. I have not been able to determine if he came here as a adult or a baby, and if he was a baby or child.....who brought him here.
If anyone has any idea of how to look for this information I would certainly appreciate it. Thank you.

the name Rochte is not present in Germany. The phone directory shows 3 Rochti names southern of Germany and 4 Röchte (Roechte) names in Lohne, province Oldenburg.
Why do you think he is born in Baden-Baden ? This is far away from Oldenburg and close to this you can find only the Rochti addresses.
Röchte in Lohne is a very old farm and still present.

Looking for any information on: Anton Witte and Marie Agnes Buschelmann. Possibly from: Steinfeld Oldenburg German. I beleive they emigrated from Oldenburg approximately 1844.
They were Catholic and settled in New Vienna, Iowa.

The book Vechtaer-Familien shows this family:
Josef Friedrich Witte, Heuermann in Hagen, born 8.Nov.1787 in Füchtel/Oythe
oo 4.Febr.1817 in Vechta to Anna Maria Macke, Widow of Heinrich Stuntebeck, Hagen, born 1785 in Haverbeck/Damme
4 children, one of them is:
- Heinrich Anton Witte, born 23.Sep.1817 in Vechta, emigrated 1844 to America, no marriage notice
The Steinfeld register shows some Maria Agnes Büschelmann, close to the da of birth of Anton:
- Maria Agnes Büschelmann, born 1.Feb.1820, parents: Henrich Arnd Büschelmann - Maria Catherina Rabe
