[OL]Hollandtrekker aus Oldenburg

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren:

I can trace my branch of the Wolke Family through Amsterdam to Boxmeer, Nl circa 1730. To date I cannot link them to Oldenburg/Vechta Wolkes. Has anyone a suggestion or knowledge of Wolke auswanderer to Holland?

                                                                                                                                  Mit viele dank,

Hello,
May be the name is Wolkers. In Holland I know a family "Wolkers". Christian
Wolkers, born Mnsterland (Catholic) about 1723. He married in Weesp/Sloten
(near Amsterdam) in 1748. His stepfather is called Casper Schiltmeijer. If
anything sounds familiar to you I can mail you an adress of somebody who
knows more about this family. If your family Wolkes originally is a Roman
Catholic family, it might be possible. The south of Oldenburg is called
Oldenbrgisches Mnsterland

Dear Mr. Sickmann:
My thanks; your point is well taken. When I find a direct line to one
Gaspar Wolke(1715?) I also find his name and his kinder's namen as Wolke,
Woeleke, Wolken, Wolkers, and Wolckers. This from Boxmeer dopen and trouw.
He had three wives for sure. So, who knows what the original name was? His
son Joannes Baptista (b. 1753) took the name Wolke and it has remained so to
today. I do not, however, recognize the names Weesp/Sloten. My 2nd cousin
lives in Hoorn and there are a number of Wolke in Amsterdam. Yes, the family
was originally Roman Catholic and some remain so today.. I will certainly
check on a possible Munsterland connection. Your information is of great
value and I appreciate it. Grandpa (Jacobus Johannes Wolke) always said we
came from the east, who knows how far east? Again my thanks for your reply.
Richard
