This afternoon I received word from the Vechta Archives that the
father of my Joes Henric Darenkamp is Wenceslaus Darenkamp and that he
was baptized on 10 September 1763. His real name was Joannes Henricus
Wenceslaus Darenkamp. This explains why, in only one record, he is
listed as Joes Wessel (same name as Wenceslaus, says the archivist)
Darenkamp. And it explains the abbreviation "Wenc." in the middle of
Joes and Henric on his marriage record.
The mother of Joes Henric is Anna Maria Pagenkamp.
Wenceslaus Darenkamp died on March 24 1763 -- just months before his
son was born.
The family lived in Notteln.
The archivist concludes, "...but I am sure that this Darrenkamp family
has her origin on the old Darrenkamp farm in Tenstedt, parish of
Cappeln."
The letter today concluded about two years of searching. According to
the funeral record, I was looking around 1759 for the baptismal
record.
Thank you all for your advice, for looking at scanned records and for
your support.
Now, for the parents of Wenceslaus.....
