Hi everyone. My great grandmother, Wilhelmia Offermann, came from Ihlienworth with her sister Maria, via Bremen to NYC around 1880. ( m. August Johann Obrock
NYC 1894 (he hailed from Wehrendorf), c: Marie Obrock Offermann & twin 1896).
I am seeking information about my great great grandparents, last known to reside in Ihlienworth during World War II. They were Johann Offermann & ________ (Mingst?) Offermann. I know there were many family members still in "the old country", because as late as the 1930's my mother, grandmother (Marie) & great grandmother (Wilhelmina) would travel back via the Lord Deutche Bremin to visit, & I have many pictures of family groups as well as the old homestead, & great great great grandfather in his eel boat.
Any & all information will be appreciated. Unfortunately, although German was spoken on both sides of the family, they did not teach it to us ~ probably because it was just after the war & being German was not in favor.
