Offermann/Ihlienworth/Luthern/Civil Registry

Many thanks to Fred for his suggestions regarding Ihlienworth. This is the first I have heard about the strict German rules governing information of a genalogical nature. Fortunately, I AM able to prove direct descendency via marriage, birth & death certificates, as well as letters from my Great Great Grandmother ,written in old German script on picture post cards of their farm.

I was also very interested to hear about the new museum about milking. I could, perhaps, contribute as I have family pictures, taken on the farm in Ihlienworth, including the family cow, haying, & fishing for eel in the river. I do not think I have a picture of the Luthern church in Ihlienworth, but do have pictures of family graves (although not such that the stones can be read). I also have my Great Grandmother's

I will attempt a letter to the 2 women you mentioned in your e-mail, but will have to get my brother, in another state, to write it. I do not speak or read German, as we were not taught it despite both my mother & father's parents & grand parents speaking it. My brother has since learned German, & I can see I have to try!
