Occupations-Ermland

I have been going thru the tapes from the Beneren Parish in Ermland. Could someone tell me the meaning of some of the occupations listed? I am not sure if I am reading them quite correctly. They seem to be: Colonus, Hortulanus, Tabernator, Proprietarius, Inqilinis, Sartonis.

Thank you,

Judy

Looking for WAGNER, HOHMANN, WEISS, THEIL, NAGEL. From: Beneren, Freimarcht, Schoenborn, Siegfriedswalde

I will take a shot:
if I am reading them quite correctly. They seem to be: Colonus,
Hortulanus,
Tabernator, Proprietarius, Inqilinis, Sartonis.

Colonus = Colonist
Hortulanus = Gardener
Tabernator = Tavern keeper
Proprietarius = Proprietor
Inquilinus = small peasant
Sartor = Tailor

Thank you for your quick response.

Hello Adalbert-
These appear to be Latin translations of the original terms. Probably
entries made
by a Priest, many of whom kept all records in Latin. Suggest you consult
someone
fluent in Latin, preferably one who is also familiar with the local language
of the
area of interest.
