I was wondering if obituaries were printed in German newspapers ... and if yes, when did they start? and how can I determine newspapers from the mid-1800s back for the Kingdom of Hannover and the area now known as Niedersachsen?

Germany, Fax (01149-)511-1267202 (they should have an emai address ?)
They can tell you which newspapers there were.
Obituaries in the 19th cent. will not be for "ordinary people", but rather for
surgeons, clergymen, civil engineers (state employees), owners of large
farms/estates etc.
