Based upon the information which you gave me, I have created two
family files. There were other Scherlers in the Cleveland area at the
time but I have not included them in my research.

Jill,
Do you have a genealogy program on your computer. If so, I can send
you gedcoms of my research. If you don't have one, I believe that you
can download a free one from myheritage.com.
For what it is worth, a Caspar H Scherler, does show up and has a son
Henry but not the same Henry you mention. He also was still alive for
the 1900 census. I didn't find the Caspar who died in 1900.

John

I have just found a Caspar Scherler, B. 1-20-1813 in Essen, Died
1-3-1900
in Newburg, Cuyahoga County, Ohio; Do not know if there is a

connection.

Thanks John.

ok, I will poke around later and see what I can put together.

John

I do not know, if he was the first. I have found many Scherlers,
Drehs,
Barlags and Quells married to each other. I have found he was

born

Oct.

1870, his middle initial may be E, his father may be Casper H.
Scherler
-born
about 1850. I think Caspar was the first to arrive in the USA. I
think
Henry was a tailor. I have an old picture of him, standing with
Quells,
Barlags, Drehs/Dress people, dated before 1825 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Thank

you!!!!~

Jill,
Is Henry the first of your ancestors to come to the US? I would be
happy to research ancestry.com for you, just need to know where to
start.
