Dear Listmembers,
I used to write the letter "e" behind the umlauted vowel. However, with the
ASCI system it is possible to get the actual "ä" by using the right side of
the keyboard. Holding down the Alt-key to the right of the space bar and
punching the numbers 1-3-2 and then releasing the Alt-key. The other
umlauted vowels are available by the same process (but with a different
number combination). There are different numbers for capital letters.
This may be old news for most of you and yet it may benefit some others.
Best wishes,

Pieter Krommenhoek

It's much easier on a Mac--just press "option" and the letter "u"...then hit
the letter over which you want the umlaut--much easier than the number/alt
combos...one more reason we love our Mac!!
