Does anyone have these names in their line ???

HOLTZ /holst /holz

MENK /menck

MARTENS

EBEL / Abel /Averill

Keel

SCHROEDER [instead of the "e" it should have an umlaut over the "o"]

ROEHRDANZ / Redanz/ Regedanz

All of these people lived in Kambs near Roebel, Mecklenburg in the very early 1800's. Heinrich Ludwig Holtz b. 1814

Phyllis

Roebel was probably the mother church. That meant that the people from all the
villages around it, including Kambs, attended that church.
If you haven't already done so, here are the numbers for the filmed church
records for that place
#069,502 beginning with the year 1672 and continuing
069,503 1776--and continuing
069,504 1876 and continuing on
Also
St. Nikolai parish also Evangelische
069, 505,506-507-508 and 509. You are so fortunate to have that many films to
search. Most of the names, I will bet, will be on those films.
I hope this helps you.

Hi Phyllis--
My gg-grandfather Joseph SCHROEDER allegedly came from Mecklenburg/Schwerin. I
say "allegedly" because I learned this from a cousin and I haven't been able
to prove it yet. He was born 18 October 1823. His wife Anna BESTIN or WESTIN
was born 7 August 1836. They may have been married before they came to the
States. I would be interested to see if you have anything about Joseph and/or
Anna.

All the best,
Cindy
