My name is John L. Kiel. I live in Ormond Beach Florida. I was born in Muscatine Iowa. I am researching my Kiel ancestors from winzlar hannover germany. My gg grandfather is Frederich Kiel born around 1831 in Hannover. He came to America in sometime between 1846 and 1853. Our family tradition states that there were three brothers who came to America. They were John Henry (Johanne Heinrich) Kiel and Christian Kiel and Frederich Kiel. My ancestor married Friedericke Biehrmann or Beuhrmann or Boremann also from Winzlar Hannover. They were married in Elgin Illinois. Many of the immigrants there were Palantine Germans. They were married at St. Johns Lutheran Church. I am trying to gather information from church records in Hannover, to determine the names of their parents.

Winzlar is a village near Hannover, at the Steinhuder Meer ( a lake in
Hannover area ). Starting 1725 Winzlar was part of the parish of Bergkirchen
( in Schaumburg-Lippe at that time ), though politically belonging to
Hannover. Today Bergkirchen is part of the community of Wölpinghausen in
Landkreis (county) Schaumburg, Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony), Germany.
So it could be possible to find your family in the church books of
Bergkirchen ( St. Katharinen ), address of the church:

There will not be a church listed for Winzlarit is a very small place,
included in the area of Rehburg-Loccum. There is a website for a Catholic
church there, but I don¹t find the site again, but I will try. Albert gave
you the address for ev. Lutheran.
