Greetings from Dallas TX
I am researching the Backer family that lived in Wildenfels. My mother,
Margaret Backer b. 3 Mar 1918, and her brother, Fritz Kurt Backer b. 2 May
1915 and her sister Gertrude Anna b. 3 Aug 1913 were all born in Wildenfels.
My g grandmother, Anna Caroline Backer, arrived in Germany from Auustralia
somewhere around 1907, probably settling in Wildenfels. Her sons, Fritz
Herman (my grandfather) and his brother, Hermann Alexander, both came with
her. Fritz married my grandmother Olga Adelaide Schubert on 12 May 1913.
Fritz and Hermann were both interred for 4 years at the outbreak of WWI.
They were both British subjects having been born in Australia.
I'm most hoping that someone can shed some light on the Schubert side of our
family. What I've entered above is about all I know of my grandmother and
the Schubert family. Any info concerning the Backers or the Schuberts will
be most apprciated.
In case you're doing the math on the births and Fritz being interred, my
understanding is that Fritz was let out occasionally for good behavior. I
guess he must have enjoyed himself.
Unfortunately, I don't speak German so please reply in English if you can.
