On the 15th June at 7:00 in the evening, Christoph MACKÄWEN
son named Johann Christoph by the mother ...

On the 15th of June in the evening around 7 O'clock the son of Christian M.,
named Johann Christoph, (following is an assumption) sent by his
mother to fetch salt,
he walked near by (or to) the mill and since there had been a thunderstorm
shortly before, the bread got wet and he slipped and fell into the
water. There he
came under the milling wheel and found a sad but soulful death. He was
buried on
the 22 of this month. He was 7 years and 4 months old.

Hello Doug,

No problem, here it goes:

Johann Christoph's mother had sent her little boy to fetch some salt. But because he went past the mill and because there had been a thunderstorm shortly before and the wooden planks were all wet, he slipped and fell under the mill wheel and so came to his sad death (and so he departed this life). Buried 22nd June 1694, 7 years and 4 months old.

Kind regards,

Christiane (Feder)

Dear Doug,
Here my translation in a modern version:
On the 15th June at 7:00 in the evening, Christoph MACKWEN's
son named Johann Christoph had been ordered by the mother to get salt. When he walked near the mill, and because a thunderstorm has happenend, so that the banks were wet, he shifted and fell into the water and got under the wheel of the mill. He died of a sad but blessed death, the 22. ejusdem (i.e. june) he was buried, old 7 years, 4 months.

I hope my translation is understandable,
best regards
Helmut...

On the 15th of June in the evening at 7 o'clock, Johann Christoph, the young son of Christian Mackäwen, ordered by his mother to get salt, walked by the mill and because shortly before there was a thunderstorm the boards were slippery and he fell into the water and under the wheel; he died a sad but blissful death and was buried 22 of this month 1694, 7 years and 4 months old.

thanks Helmut. This really helpful. When I saw Mutter Saltz, I was thinking this was her surname and did not make any sense. Your translation
is great. I tried to google a translation but that left a lot of words untranslated.
Thanks again.
