The National Archive in Ottawa, Canada has for years made records available for genealogical researcher. The sites available are not only of use for Canadians but also of use to any descendant of emigrants world wide. Records of the Imperial Russian Embassy recorded anybody who came out the then Russian Empire. it included Poland, Ukraine, Finland and all Baltic States. It may lead you back to your ancestors by name even if the did not stay in Canada.
Excellent documents in both Russian and German. Which included marriage and birth certificates. Complete ship lists etc. It will tax your patience at times since in most cases you can not search by name but have to search by arrival date or ship or Port of Entry. Who said it is going to easy ?
Of interest ist the Likacheff-Ragosine,Mathies Collection It will show the Ukraine in which all Germans in the Bessarabia and Odessa Regions are included.

Good Luck, viel Glck.
