I did not spend more than an hour on the search tonight, I will have to
really try to understand how to do it better -- some of these search places
are so "gadgety", it is difficult to know if one is doing it to get the
maximum benefit.
I thought it said that you could see the entire manifest once you found
someone; I didn't find that feature.
Once you put in a search (for the German passengers, say), there is a box at
the top that lets you search within that field. So I was able to put in
West Virginia, and that nailed down a couple of names of interest under a
different spelling I wouldn't have thought of. Of course, my WV people
could have just put down USA, so I'd miss them. And, I'll have to try just "Virginia" which is what the state was before it became WV.
I did see that you can use a wild card, but you have to have at least 3
other letters.
Also, be sure to see that you can ask for 50 results on a page--that really
speeds up the screening process, for me.
If anyone else gets any more tips, will you share them, please? I'm not
sure there isn't another, or better, way to do a fuzzy search.
