While researching my Zernin Parish ancestors, I am puzzled by some of the IGI
information regarding women's first names. Some I have been able to figure
out the full name, but others I am at a lost. I'd appreciate any help anyone
can give me.
Lies = Elisabeth
Trin = Catharina
Gret = Margartha
Fick = Sophia
Ilsabe = ?
Mrieck = ?
Lehn = ?
Stien = ?
Pretoria Maxwell
Stien = Ernestine , some times only Stiene
Lehn = Helene, sometimes Lehne, Lehnel, Leni
Ilsabe is a regular first name, accent on the last syllable, at least
this is what my friend with this name told me.
Mrieck = I guess it would be a form of Maria or Marika, but am not sure.

for the areas I'm searching (Mecklenburg-Schwerin around Grevesm�hlen,
Kl�tz, Schwerin) the short forms mean the following. In these areas I never
found an Ernestine or a Helena.
The ending -ck stands for the cute form of the name, like Bob -> Bobby.
Fick, Vieck -> Sophia / Sophie
Ilsabe -> Ilsabe
Elsabe -> Elsabe
Marieck -> Marie / Maria
Lehn -> Magdalena
Stien -> Christine / Christina

I have an aunt who comes from that area and her name was Ernestine ,
though mostly called Stiene or Tiene. I read it on her gravemarker.
