Does anyone have knowledge of a town/village in Hannover called
Gathesbinder? I have a fairly good map of Germany and I cannot find such a place.
Someone has told me my ancestor was from this village - I have the village name as
Gadesbünden which I have located.. . .Thanks for any help.
Hi Don, it seems to be Gadesbuenden, a little village 5 miles north of Nienburg near Hannover, Lower Saxonie, Germany.

Your "Gathesbinder" propably is the village called GADESBNDEN near Nienburg/Weser. This village belongs to Heemsen. You will find the church also there. Look at www.heemsen.de
But nearby is another village called GANDESBERGEN. This village belongs to Eystrup; the church is also in Eystrup. Look at www.eystrup.de
Also north of Nienburg, near Eystrup is Gandesbergen. They are about 9-10 K apart, less by crow.
If your ancestor is from Gandesbergen, he/she probably went to the same parish in Eystrup as did my GF and his family. (Actually I shouldn't say that. My GF's family lived in Anderten, which belonged to the Eystrup parish. I haven't followed through yet. Give me a name.
