Perhaps the family was not living at Schweringen since "ever", because it is a rare name in the North. In 1998 there were totally only 35 PREUSSEL and PREUßEL in the telefone directory. From these were only 3 inside Lower-Saxony, one in Hildesheim, one in Bad Salzdetfurth and one in Sarstedt. The rest was living more south with a slight concentration on the line Sondershausen, Weimar, Erfurt, Eisenach, Dresden, but in all scattered south up to Munich. 3 entries could be found in Berlin. So this might be a help to know where to look, if you want to follow up this line PREUSSEL.
