Cloppenburg was mainly RC. But it could be that there were living a handful Protestants. But maybe Hermann was a RC and his wife Protestant.

With Cloppenburg being primarily Roman Catholic - of which I was completely
unaware, the likely scenario is certainly that my Grt-Grandfather H G 'Diedrich'
Stahmer's' family was RC, and he followed the faith of my Grt-Grandmother
Louesa/Lizzie Kaehlmann and her biological mother - 2 Grts-Grandmother Katherine
'Marie' ? Kaehlmann Lohmann. The Johann Wilhelm Heinrich/'Henry' Lohmann family
was from Melle Hannover Prussia. The Lohmanns, including Mrs Lohmann's daughter
- Louesa/Lizzie, met H G 'Diedrich' Stahmer crossing the Atlantic aboard
the bark "Dorrette" [Bremen to New Orleans] 1867.
