Hi Daniel,
Today I checked the files of the protestant-Lutheran church records in Hanover and I have to tell you that your ancestor Louis Gohmann, if he belonged to this church, was not born in Hanover city. I think he was born in the Kingdom of Hanover, but not in Hanover direct.
If you have more hints, maybe I can help you.
Regards,
Monika (Moehring)

Hello Monika
I am a descendant of Heinrich Frederich Gustav Winkelmann, who together with his
older brother August Ernst Winkelmann moved to South Africa in the 1800's and
were both British/German Legionnaires. I believe that they originated from the
village Eisdorf, at the city of Ostenrode, at the Harz Mountains, Hanover,
Germany. Heinrich was a baker, I am told, and his brother was a house servant.
I have located the grave of Heinrich my Great Grandfather, and would like to
research further back. Could you please let me know if there is any way of
tracing my roots, and what the costs would be.
Kind Regards,
Andrew Winkelmann.
