Hi Tracy,
There may be
several people willing to help you, but it will be
impossible
on the scarce data you provided.
MUELLER is such a common
and widespread name, and Hans is the most common German
first name. There may be many Hans Mueller born "about
1837".
Moreover Kaiserslautern at that time was turning from a
small rural town
into a bigger industrial city and many thousands streamed
into this
city from
the villages around. So your Hans Mueller may have been
born
in one of the
villages, may have lived in town for a few years and
emigrated from here.
You must provide more concrete and precise data for a
search
for such a common name, otherwise it won't yield any
useful results.
Try again to give some more hints (father's name/ wife's
name if married in Germany/ confirmation date/ birthdate/
children born in Germany? / religion/ whatever...
Here is one:
JOHANNES MUELLER
born 14 APR 1839 Kaiserslautern
Father: JOHANNES MUELLER Mother: CATHARINA SCHUFF
Or here another one:
JOHANNES MUELLER
born 24 OCT 1837
baptized: 29 OCT 1837 catholic, Enkenbach (6 miles from
Kaiserslautern)
Mother: BARBARA MUELLER
You will find more of the kind, but don't know if you're on
the right track.
best regards
