I can prepare a list by the village I have for them, but I did want to
clarify that it is not the Heinrich Porth book since I purchased copies of
these. If I understand OFB, is it a family lineage prepared by the families
themselves?Bonita
Hi Bonita Hillmer,
Heinrich PORTH is a very busy genealogist of the region. The OFB Himbergen is a new piece of work of him and Gunda FRIESCH. He published already the OFB Ebstorf, from which your copies might be.
To explain more detailed what an "Ortsfamilienbuch" or short "OFB" is, let me explain more.
It is based on the parish book of a "Kirchspiel". All entries are extracted for the genealogical informations. Then the author brings all this entries into alphabetical order and if there are more entries for the same name brings these into chronological order and puts together the families, means father and mother and children. As far there are connections to further families going out from the childeren there is a hint by a number, which leads to this new branch. As far as the parents of any father or mother are given, there are given also hints by a number, where these could be find in the alphabetical order of the family names. Numbering through is done after having collected all families inaöphabetical order. So if a Woman Hilmer marries a man Meyer, she will be found under the mans family name, but this ordinal number will be shown with her birth entry by her parents entry and vice versa. By that all genealogical connections can be found easily. So the only source in general is the parish book, no family other sources or documents. Of course there are possibilities for the integration of also other sources. That depends on the author and the space for one or more volumes, which can be published. In so far also a decision of the price. Anyway getting sampled all entries of a parish-book in one book is an absolute great piece of work, as the reader can be out of doubt, if not in any far corner of the ....
