Hi Janet,
there are some people from Molzen in the OFB Himbergen. I could check this
for you, but you have to give some names and dates of the researched people
from Molzen. the parish of Himbergen is inside your region.
Greetings
Hans Peter Albers, Bienenbüttel
Thank you very much. What is OFB?
I discovered a birth record in the Molzen records for Wilhelm August Hagen,
born 8 April 1831, with parents that I think are Johann Frederick Hagen and
Maria Fredericka Hagen. The handwriting is hard for me to read. I haven't
been able to read much else of the record.
Unfortunately, Wilhelm Hagen is the husband and I was wrongfully assuming
that the wife's family would be there, also. I am descended from the wife's
family. I know that they met in Germany. I just assumed that they grew up
together or something and both came from the same area. The wife's family has
to be in the area somewhere, though. I know their first child was born in
Albany County, New York and that their second child was born in Germany. The
rest were born in Schodack, New York. I have multiple ship records showing the
husband by himself and the family coming back and forth from Germany to New
York.
The wife is Elizabeth Sophia Meyer, born 8 Dec 1835.
Her sister, Dora Meyer was born 15 Sep 1845.
Another sister, Maria, was born 6 Feb 1855.
There is a brother named Augustus who was born around 1841.
There is supposedly an illegitimate brother, Charles Meder, born 10 May 1856.
The parents of the Meyer sisters and brother are listed as Johann Frederick
Meyer and Maria Dorman or Dormer.
The parents of Charles Meder are listed as William Meder and Elizabeth
Dormer. Perhaps Elizabeth Dormer and Maria Dormer/Dorman are sisters and not the
same person.
I've only made a quick check of all of those birth dates in the Molzen
record but I'm pretty sure, unless I am really missing something, that none of
them are there. The handwriting was very hard for me to read. Only the
husband, William Hagen, seems to be there. There is a family named Kotke that also
is around the family in New York. I did find Kotke's in the Molzen record.
Thank you for your help.
Janet
