Hi, My name is Gerald Joseph Moller born in 1945, Canada. My father was
Herman Joseph Moller born in Stalforden, Germany in 1908? His Father was
Gerhard. If you can help to find any information of the ancestry and
descendants it would be much appreciated.
Hi Lothar, that was an amazing discovery, far more than I ever expected.
Next is to find my grandfathers descendants.
I am giving the following link to my Canadian family tree, from my mother's
side. It is not totally up to date. It was created by one of my cousins, but
I have no contact for him. I hope you find it interesting. If you follow the
directions, it will give you more information on the individuals.
Good Morning, I have not spoken to you for a while now, hope you are well.
The reason I am writing is that I am somewhat confused with the names of my
ancestors. I do not know how to tell which is the given first name and which
is the middle name. I believe that my grandfather's name was Gerhard Joseph,
does that mean that the others are switched as well?
in former times was ist not strong with the first name and the middle name.
On that time most the middle name was the call name in our area. So it ist could be that in the States they changed the call name to first name and the first name as an additional to middle name. I saw it also in other cases.
But the original is the spelling of the entry in church book.
It could be either way. My father's cousins, when they came to the U.S.
reversed their given names so that they would be called the same as they
were in the old country. My grandmother chose to keep her name in the same
order it was given on her baptismal record.
