Further to my quest to find links to the KULESSA family, I have often wondered if the KULESSA's ended up in Silesia, coming from East Prussia, as a result of the Seven years War (1756-1763)
Does anyone have information about migrations to Silesia in particular, as a result of the seven years war?

I'm not an expert but I can't see an immediate, general advantage to
such a move. East Prussia was occupied by the Russians early in the
war. There were cossack atrocities but in Koenigsberg at least, the
Russians were quite popular. Frederick II was so peeved at the
collaboration that he never visited East Prussia again. In my own
research, I have seen marriages with Russian soldiers in Polish
Prussia at the time - though that was neutral territory, of course.
Silesia was a major theatre of war in the Seven Years War, changing
hands many times between Prussian and Austro-Russian armies.

Thank you for your reply. I'm asking the question because I am investigating
a theory that my KULESSA family moved to Silesia from East Prussia. The
earliest Silesian records I have managed to find relating to KULESSA are
dated late 1700's. Perhaps my KULESSA's did not come from East Prussia after
all. I am at a bit of a loss as to how to proceed to find my origins prior
the late 1700's.
