I'm looking for information on my Great-Great Grandfather.

He was born in Fachta, Oldenberg, Germany on December 3rd, 1844. He came to the United States via Baltimore, Maryland in 1867.

I appreciate any information you might have.

John Henry Meyer - cigar maker by trade - Landed in Baltimore, MD, then moved to Quincy, Illinois.

Married Maria Elizabeth Huebotter on April 17, 1873. Died in Covington, Oklahoma on April 7, 1936

I'm sure you really meant Vechta, Oldenburg but don't assume that it
had to be the town. If he can't be found there it might well be the
Amt Vechta which is an administrative region within Oldenburg.

Yes, I have a couple of old newspaper clippings.
The other lists his birth place as Vechta.

Have information that his parents possibly might have been 'Franz Anton Meyer' and 'Maria Elisabeth Brand' of Lutten, Vechta, Oldenburg. I have not been able to confirm.

there are catholics church books for Lutten and Vechta.
The Mormons (LDS) have copies of this church books, you should check this.
The parish Lutten is close to the town Vechta in Oldenburg province.
