Meyer Genealogy

Dear Woody,

I am interest in the name Meyer/Meyers. I have an August Meyer/Meyers as a grandfather, though he was born in Missouri per census info.

Family tradition says.. the name was originally MeyerPeter/Meierpeter. Have you? or any listers? know of the name Meyerpeter/Meierpeter? Or where that name might originate?

Your Henry August Adoph Meyer is to late for my family..unless just a trip?

I say this because my Meyer/Meyers..on his daughters death cert. is father=August Meyer. Mother = Mary Gebhardt. Marriage info I believe was listed as Gerhard MeyerPeter who married Marie Gebhardt in 1872 in St. Louis.

1880 u.s. census lists him as Henry Meyer/Meyers and I know this Henry Meyer is the correct family because of the childrens names. They are known to my relatives. So I don't know what his name was..really.

Anyway..the point of this note is.. Where would one find the name MeyerPeter/MeierPeter/MeyerPetter?

Hello Barb
Nice to meet you and yes, my father was a 1885 birth and arrived in the USA
in 1906.
Odd thing, he came to his uncles place in Bertrand Nebraska as his uncle
paid for his travel to the USA.
I think he had a working agreement with his uncle and left there (Bertrand)
in 1910. His uncles name was Peter C. H. Meyer. I think either Christoph or
a version of that and Heinrich or Herman for his German given name. I
believe that is the case in Germany. I am still researching that one.
Peter came to the USA prior to 1890 and was born about Oct. 02, 1845.

It would be amazing if we did find a common link....odds are not too good
though..

Regards,
Fred W. Meyer
