Hi All,
After 25 years of searching, I believe the birthplace of my Great Grandfather
Ludwig Theodor MESSERSCHMIDT has been found, with help from the wonderful people at the Salt Lake City Genealogy Library. Yes, I went to SLC for 6 days of research. On the 5th day, obtained the info I had gone for.

Emigrated: 1880 Hamburg to Phila. possibly via NY

Ginger, How difficult was it to find your Messerschmidt? I am searching for
Heirnrich Messerschmidt, b. 13 Jun 1837, but I don't know where in Hannover.
He came to US. in 1867 and died in South Dakota in 1908. I happy for your
success. Harold
