I seek information on the family of JOHANN CARL AUGUST MERTSCH, b ca 1835,
in Seebnitz/Lueben cty/Silesia (presently Trzebnice, Poland). His father
was Johann Heinrich Mertsch, most likely Evangelical, died after 12 June
1869 most likely in Seebnitz. Johann Carl’s mother was Anna Susanna Rutsch
most likely Roman Catholic, b ca 1804 , died 3 June, 1883 in Detroit,
Michigan (USA).

It is my understanding that the parish records of the churches in Seebnitz
from 1747 to 1937 have been lost.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, your information is correct, sorry, but in WW II (1945) the region Seebnitz was a place
of fierce battles.
