There are three Lutheran churches in Cole Camp. The records of two (not the
Missouri Synod one) have been microfilmed and are available for viewing at
the Western Historical Manuscript Collection-Rolla. I transcribed the
records of one of the two and published same in Missouri State Genealogical
Association Journal. See www.mosga.org. This week I will update the
databases linked therein.

Three Lutheran churches within the city limits of Cole Camp, but four more
located close enough in the country, that we consider them part of our
community. This area was settled in the 1840's by Lutherans from the area
between Bremen, Hamburg and Bremervoerde. Twelve miles east of Cole Camp is
the town of Stover. There are two Lutheran churches there and one just
north of town in an area called Pyrmont. This was named after Bad Pyrmont
which is located just south of Hameln in Germany. Most of the Stover
Lutherans came from the Hameln area, except for a small group of Lutheran
Austrians who also came to the Stover area in the 1850's.
