I am looking for ancestors from Oldenburg and hope you can help me.
My great great grandfather was Dietrich Meischen, born in Oldenburg on 12 Feb 1848. He emigrated to America but I don’t know where/when. He married Wilhemina Rudloff in Texas, USA.
Dietrich’s father was Friedrich MEISCHEN, botn 1813 in Germany. He died in 1861, I assume in Germany.
Dietrich’s mother was Margaretta Harmann, 1826-1894, also born in Germany.

The nice folks here may be able to help you with records in Oldenburg. To help you fill in your information on his emigration, the Ancestry.com collection "Atlantic Ports, Gulf Coasts, and Great Lakes Passenger Lists, Roll 3: Galveston Texas 1846-1871” reports his arrival on 23 December 1867 at the port of Galveston. He left from Bremen on the ship “Weser.”
