Meine Suche nach KÖNEMANN

Liebe Listenleser,

Musterrollen seinen Geburtsort erfahren.

nichts gefunden.

Für Hinweise danke ich im voraus.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen
Brigitte (Schymura)

Dear Brigitte,

I reply because of the slim chance you have not viewed this website:
http://www.denkmalprojekt.org/Verlustlisten/vl_1794_koal_hannov_liste_13.htm
This includes a soldier called H. KÖNEMANN.

Qute many surnames familiar to the hannover list are also included. I don't know if might be of interest but because of slim chance I post link.

Warm Regards,
Barbie-Lew

I scanned your posting and saw the name BURGDORF on the list. But I have no idea as to the refernce since I cannot read or speak German. Is it possible for you to translate the posting so I will know what it says. As you know my search is for Julius Burgdorf born in Hanover about 1825.

Thank you for your help.

Hello Max,

Brigitte is looking in a place named Burgdorf, it is near Hannover.

Harald

Barbie-Lew and Max,
Thank you, Barbie. I know this website through and through. The KOENEMANNS
there are not part of my ancestors.

Max, my ggg-grandfather Johann Heinrich KOENEMANN is baptized in 1771 at
Burgdorf, a little town near Hanover. I'm not searching for the family name
Burgdorf.

Best regards,
Brigitte

Barbie-Lew in her response to Bridgett provided a web site address. I went to to the site and found a J. Burgdorf on the list of soldiers and requested if she or anyone else could provide a translation for me. I got 2 replies and both said that Burgdorf referred to a location, not a person. I know there are 2 towns named Burgdorf to the east of Hildesheim but the Burgdorf on the Barbie Lew list definitely refers to person, my best guess a former German soldier of past wars. I surfed that particular website and I think it lists the names of soldiers honored on memorials in German cities and towns. If anyone can assist me I would be really appreciative.

Max, the "Verlustlisten" listed on the website
http://www.denkmalprojekt.org/covers_vl/verlustlisten.htm
register those soldiers who died during the several wars listed there.
You see their names, place and date of their birth, place and date where
thei died, the regiment they belonged to and the reason of death.

If you are searching for explanations of one these wars and not knowing the
English equivalent, I propose to go to Wikipedia, then type the German name
of the war you want to have explanations for and then to change to the
English version.

Good luck.

Brigitte

Thank you Brigitte for the info. For the moment I am more interested in a name on a memorial than for the war or battle. I noted a J. Burgdorf and was thinking how I might find more data about him. My ggrandfather said he was born in Hildesheim about 1825 so I know the name on the memorial is not his. But it may have been an ancestor. Any suggestions?

Hi Max,

I went to the site to look for you. The only Burgdorf I find mentioned is a
location. Is it possible you could tell us the page you found it on?

Bobbi

Catus Flower (love that handle)Barbie Lew posted a message intended for Brigitte and included a webpage address, a very long one. When opened, on the very first page, all in German are lists that name persons from the Calvary and from the Infantry. The lists are alphabetized and on the Infantry list you can find an enty for Burgdorf WH. along with other data, again all in German. I would like to know the column translations and anything else pertinent.

I know this is NOT my ggrandfather who was not born until about 1826 but could be a descendant. I guess I'm chasing shadows but I just cannot find Julius. This month I will be 84 and only the Lord knows how much time I have left.

Hi Max,

What a coincidence - I've been looking for Julius Burgdorf for well over
two hours right now. I found a webpage that has a Julius Burgdorff, a
pastor from Badbergen. I thought Badbergen was near to the area where your
Julius might have been but not so. There are just two many Burgdorfs in
that area.

We want to help you find your great-grandfather, but he is in a area with
two many towns with a whole lot of Burgdorfs. I'll keep hunting.

At bottom of page is additional information which I translated using babelfisch.

Coalition wars against France

From 1792, there was the so-called coalition wars between the Republic of France and European allies (Prussia, Spain, England, Austria, the Netherlands, etc.). After changing successes both sides came on 8 February 1801 conclusion to the peace of Lunéville between Austria and France, where also the final peace with the countries of the German Empire was anchored. Between France and England on 25 March 1802 the Peace of Amiens.

George III. Not only was King of England (1738-1820), but also Elector of Hanover (since 1815 then king), Anna Stuart as Queen of Great Britain no surviving descendants had the crown to the next Protestant relatives, the house of Hanover, fell. This staff union ended in 1837 with the throne of Queen Victoria, as the Kingdom of Hanover only male offspring could climb the throne.
In the spring of 1793 was the Barony of Hanover in the war against France underfoot. For an overview of the actual and nominal strength of the military units to have ordered King George III. "Intention of the loss before the enemies of todtgeschossenen teams and horses", "that every 2 months and form an accurate authorisiertes Verzeichniß and correcting a calculation bey Aller maximum denenselben submitted and vorgeleget be."
A little later, the first "list of surviving and deceased or diseases Blessuren team of Ao. English Sold in 1793 took Hanover's troops. "
Initially the lists contained the names of "stayed" or "died", her birth and, if known, including the death place of the received fatal wound, death, regiment and company,
from July 1795 will also age, length of service time Whether married and the number of children. *********

Hello,

You can find out maps and distances between two places in the USA by
using Mapquest.com. It is very easy. You can also find maps and distances
in other countries. For Germany go here:

     http://www.mapquest.de/mq/directions/mapbydirection.do

It works the same way. There are other countries that you can find the same
thing. See the list of countries at the bottom of that first page:
