Mecklenburg Land Records

Dear List Members,

My use of the German language is very poor. Consequently I need to write this in English. Please bear with me as this is a rather long story.

I have been researching my VIERK, VIERKE, VIERECK etc. family for quite some time. With the wonderful help I received from this list and the Pommern List, I have been able to trace my ancestors to Swedish Pommern in about the 1680's. One of the descendants of this line, Joachim Jacob VIERECK married Sophia KOHL in Dargun Mecklenburg . His descendants lived and worked in and around the Schorrentin area. They were primarily tagelöhners. My immigrant ancestor is descended from this line.

In the area of Schorrentin is a large estate that I believe was at what time a VIERECK estate. On the estate is a mausoleum in which Johann Gottlieb Wilhelm VIERECK is buried. He was born in Güstrow but died in Rostock. His parents were H. Johann Friedrick VIERECK and Magdalena Lucia SPALDING. Johann Friedrick was a senator in Güstrow and a Domainrath in Rostock.

I would like to believe that there is a connection between this family and my ancestors. Perhaps the owner of the estate was an uncle from a collateral line that hired his poor relatives to work for him.

My question is: How can I find out who originally owned this estate and perhaps find their lineage. Do I need to look in land records of Mecklenburg? Where would I find these records? Do you have any further suggestions for me? I am at a loss as to how to climb over this brick wall.

I appreciate any help or suggestions you may have to offer.

Greetings from Arizona
