Mecklenburg-L Nachrichtensammlung, Band 167, Eintrag 17

Hello Reinhard,

Thank you for your reply, however the *Konoowarra* was an Australian coastal vessel sailing between Hobart in Tasmania, Melbourne in Victoria to Sydney in New South Wales Australia in 1883.

My understanding this vessel carried passengers interstate and was not an overseas vessel.

We understand Wilhelm Louis Ipkendanz joined *Konoowarra* in Melbourne to travel to Sydney.

We wish to know what ship Wilhelm arrived on in Melbourne from an overseas port.

The *Koonookarra* was not built until 1899 in Singapore. It also was a coastal vessel. Wilhelm was married in Sydney in 1884, so he couldn't have arrived on that ship.

If Wilhelm departed from Hamburg during the 1870s his details may be recorded in the Meldeamt records.

Many thanks for your help but some of the family information published online isn't correct, he wasn't born in Handorf either!

Regards,

Elizabeth

Hello Elizabeth

Have you tried the National Lutheran Archives in Adelaide?
If the children were baptised in a Lutheran church or he married in one,
the records will be there.
You can send them an email or visit if you live close enough.
I went there when staying in Adelaide a few years ago, and got some
wonderful stuff! Much more than is in a civil registration certificate.
They have indexes as well to get you started. A wonderful resource.
