I am researching the surname HARTWIG.

Johann Friedrich Hartwig, died 1837 in Naschendorf, Grevesmuhlen.
Child of Johann was Heinrich Gottlieb Hartwig, born Welzin (Weltzin
sometimes spelt in birth certs).
Heinrich Gottlieb Hartwig married Sohie Wilhemine Marie Lange, daughter of
Johann Lange/Katherine Bibow.
They had according to birth certs, 4 children;
Friedrich Heinrich Gottlieb Hartwig born December 12, 1838, Welzin (he came
to New Zealand at the age of 19, via Gravesend, London, England on a ship
named the John Masterman, it left London 17 October 1856).
Sophie Margarette Elisabeth Hartwig; I have no more details on her
Karl Christian Heinrich Hartwigs: I have no more details on him
Emma Louise Auguste Hartwigs; I have no more detail on him.
According to certs from the Archives I have had sent to me, the name has
been spelt with an"s" on the end of it.
A letter from the Mecklenburgisches Landeshauptarchiv dated 1991, saids that
they lived in a cottage/house with one other family in 1852 in the town of
Welzin, where the children were born.
They are unable to tell me what happend after 1852 to the family.
Friedrich Heinrich Gottlieb hartwig left the family at the age of 19 and
travelled to England. HOW?
His trade was a cobbler (shoemaker).
he arrived in New Zealand in Nelson on 8 Febuary 1857, with the Rose family,
also of Germany, and settled in a place called the Upper Moutere, nelson,
New Zealand.
He married Johanna Josephina Schildhauer, in 1874. She came >from Hannover,
Germany.
She was on the same ship as Friedrich and the Rose family. She acted as an
assistant to mrs Rose and her husband, who had six children with them on the
voyage.

I want to learn more about Grevesmuhlen/Damshagan/Welzin/Wotenitz/Klutz
area, and am finding it very hard to make email contact with someone in that
general area.
Can you help me, please.
