Masuren [was: West Prussian organizations - why not in English?]

Jutta,

You said that your grandmother lived in the border area of East Prussia (Masuren) and Poland. I would like to know if you have any knowledge of these families and places from my own East Prussian ev. luth. ancestry:

31. Juliana Justina WAGNER, * 28 Nov 1816 Kreisstadt Johannisburg, emigrated 1857, † 29 Aug 1861 City of St. Louis, Missouri
oo 28 Apr 1839 Marienwerder -- Johann Wilhelm Ballaseus, * 20 Jul 1803 Gaitzuhnen, Kreis Insterburg

62. Adolph Benjamin WAGNER, * 16 Apr 1790 Kreisstadt Johannisburg oo 26 Oct 1814 Kreisstadt Johannisburg

63. Marianna JASCHINSKI, * 31 Jan 1793 Adlig Borken, Kreis Johannisburg

124. Johann Christian WAGNER, Master Baker in Johannisburg, * ca. 1740
He was living in Johannisburg during at least 1775-1802, but evidently not before 1767.
His first wife appears to be from a family of bakers who were living in the town by 1752-3.
  oo(1) Catharina CONSTANSKI; oo(2) ca. 1781 to:

125. Wilhelmina RAUSCHNIK

126. Franciscus "Franz" JASCHINSKI, Brewer or Brandy Distiller (my guess - handwriting unclear!) at Adlig Borken, Kreis Johannisburg
  * possibly in (my guess!!) Kreis Ortelsburg
oo possibly in or near (my guess!!) Chorzele, Przasnysz county, Polen

127. Margaretha UŁATOWSKA or UŁATOWSZCZANKA (records differ on the ending)
  * possibly in or near (my guess!!) Chorzele, Przasnysz county, Polen

Thank you!

Have you searched these records?

Gordon,
Your ancestors originate from the same area where my grandmother's family
lived for at least two centuries (Johannisburg country, or Landkreis).
Unfortunately none of the names you listed have surfaced in my research.
Sorry.
Jutta

Familienforschung gefunden.
Vielleicht kann jemand helfen, siehe Namen unten.

Gordon,
None of the names in your e-mail are familiar to me. I recently ordered a
CD with information on the male population of Johannisburg county (Kreis)
during the 17th or 18th century. It has not yet arrived but should be
received soon. I will try to find your names as well.
Is time consuming but worth the effort to look through the library and
archives of VFFW. See

Of course, everything is in German but with Google translate you would at
least understand the titles, etc.

I hope this helps,

Jutta
