I am not a subscriber to this list but hope someone may be able to help me in my search
for further details of my 4GGF Martin FLEISCHER.
Martin FLEISCHER was a member of the Hompesch Hussars. This regiment was, I believe,
raised in Schwarm, Hannover in 1794 as part of the King's German Legion.
On the dissolution of the Hompesch Hussars in 1802 he joined the 21st Lt. Dragoons and
eventually found himself in South Africa where he died circa 1832.
I have appended immediately below a transcription of a memorial written by Martin which
gives some insight on the early part of his life.
Any information or advice which would enable me to get further back on my FLEISCHER
line would be greatly appreciated.
